During the fourth day of her working visit in Ankara, the political capital city of Turkey, the First Lady of the Republic of Burundi Her Excellency Reverend Denise Nkurunziza visited the National Museum in the morning of this Friday, May 29th, 2016. Among the many places, Reverend Denise Nkurunziza visited the place of honor where all artifacts of the political history of Turkey are deposited. The First Lady was also shown the place of sale of cultural and traditional articles.
After this visit, Mrs. Denise Nkurunziza was welcomed to the Office of Burundi Embassy in Turkey by Ambassador Joël Nkorabagaya. It was also an opportunity to meet with twelve students, beneficiaries of scholarships in Turkey and those sent by BUNTU Foundation.
At this meeting, the First Lady of Burundi informed participants on the current political and security situation of the country: “Do not be afraid of what you read on social media because our country is in peace. After the protestations which were characterized by throwing of grenades, the situation turned back to normalcy. Despite the suspension of European Union aid, the Government of Burundi continued to pay salaries to civil servants. The harvest is now more satisfying than before. In everything God intervenes as brave and intelligent.”
According to Mrs. Denise Nkurunziza, security was troubled by armed bandits in Mugamba commune and competent authorities took it in hands and stabilized the situation. “I urge you to study with goal to create employment for those who need it instead of thinking that you would become unemployed after graduation.”
The students thanked the First Lady for thinking about them and reconfirmed they have their commitment to serve Burundi with all their efforts. As for matters pertaining to security they said, “Burundi is a paradise because even in Europe, there are countries that suffer the most from insecurity.”
